| Philippa (Pip) Symington is a Senior Manager with International Risk based in Japan responsible for undertaking a wide range of investigative, business intelligence and risk consulting assignments. In particular, she has managed many complex multi-disciplinary and cross-regional projects, focused especially on brand protection and intellectual property strategies, regional political and security risk assessments and asset searches. Pip is also responsible for the oversight of the Japan based research team, which provides comprehensive research, analysis and investigative support for companies involved in M&A transactions as well as contested takeovers in Japan.
Prior to joining International Risk in April 2006, Pip worked as a country risk analyst for Business Monitor International, providing political and economic risk assessments on Asia and Central Asia. She was previously an assistant correspondent at the Nikkei newspaper, Japan’s financial daily, for two years in London, following several years on the JET programme in Japan. In addition, Pip has experience working for a variety of market research companies and academic think tanks in the UK.
Pip holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from the University of Durham and a Masters degree in Japanese Studies from SOAS, University of London. She speaks Japanese.
