Vice President, Brand Protection Services INTERNATIONAL RISK Ltd Back to Contacts     Bob Youill is Vice President, Brand Protection Services, with International Risk Ltd and is concurrently Managing Director of our wholly-owned subsidiary, Thompson Market Services (“TMS”). He is based in Shanghai Bob is a highly qualified and experienced risk expert with over 30 years of senior-level experience in investigations and risk consulting, and has extensive expertise in corporate strategies for the protection of intellectual property and brands, integration of IP & brand protection within enterprise risk management, effective protection against counterfeiting, and corporate security and asset protection. Prior to joining International Risk, from 1998 to 2008, Bob was the Regional Anti-Piracy Enforcement Director for the International Federation of Phonographic Industries, where he combated intellectual property theft and counterfeiting and brand theft in the Asia-Pacific region. He was responsible for the neutralization of numerous multi-jurisdictional criminal-counterfeiting syndicates, and he also led numerous high-level representations and advisory teams to governments around the region. An accomplished international speaker, Bob has presented at many government and private industry forums as an IP protection expert in the Asia-Pacific, EU, Latin America and the USA. From 1997 to 1998 Bob was the General Manager of Hong Kong for Pinkerton, a global security and business intelligence company. There he was responsible for designing and implementing a wide variety of risk solutions for clients including, but not limited to, intellectual property-related investigations, brand protection programs, due diligence and both fraud investigation and prevention. Between 1977 and 1997 Bob was an officer in the Royal Hong Kong Police, rising to the rank of Superintendent. As Detective Superintendent in the Organised Crime & Triads Bureau, he supervised a large number of successful criminal investigations against organized criminal syndicates, including leading complex multi-jurisdictional investigations. During his police career he received numerous commendations, and in 1997 he was awarded the Colonial Police Medal by Queen Elizabeth II for meritous service. Bob earned his bachelors degree in education from the University of Keele in England in 1977 and received a diploma in business administration from Wolsey Hall College, Oxford in 1993. He is Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”) and a Certified Protection Profession (“CPP”) with the American Society for Industrial Security. In addition to his native English, he speaks fluent Cantonese.
