Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting (Asia) Limited Back to Contacts       Rob is Senior Managing Director of FTI Consulting (Asia) Limited, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Rob Morris was the East Asia Area Head of the fraud and dispute practice of a Big Four accounting firm, having originally established the practice in Hong Kong and China in 2005. He has worked in Asia for most of his 30-year career and has extensive regional experience in handling financial investigations, dispute services, forensic accounting and financial restructuring projects. Rob has been involved in a number of complex and high-profile dispute cases including assisting the Hong Kong Police and FBI and acting as expert witness in their investigations of a US$400million money laundering case which led to successful convictions in Hong Kong and the United States. On behalf of the regulator, he led an investigation into a bank in relation to FinCEN allegations made under Section 311 of the US Patriot Act. He also acted as a financial advisor in representation of the 18 banks involved the distribution of Lehman mini-bonds, in their negotiations with the Hong Kong Government. Rob has provided forensic accounting services to numerous companies in respect of various allegations or suspicions including the governance of their operations in the PRC; issues relating to the United States FCPA act, phantom customers, bribery of procurement executives, self-trading and other fraudulent claims. He has also assisted companies in drawing up, implementing and enforcing risk mitigation measures in fraud and regulatory compliance. Prior to rejoining the accounting profession, Rob was with HSBC for 18 years, culminating in his appointment as Head of the Bank’s Corporate Workout Department for China, Hong Kong and Macau during the Asian financial crisis. In this role, Rob had direct responsibility for the identification and resolution of distressed assets in respect of the Bank’s largest corporate lending book in Asia. He was directly involved in and oversaw the workout of a USD1.5 billion debt portfolio which included more than 40 listed entities. Rob has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Economics and Accountancy from Southampton University. He is an Associate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants and an Associate with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
